The dairy industry includes the producers of butter and cheese products as well as the broad scale of milk products such as milk, milk powder, ice cream, yogurt and custard. Due to the major health risks of spoiled milk products, hygiene and food safety plays an important role in this industry. For this reason, the requirements to be met by an industrial floor in the dairy industry are becoming increasingly stringent. Not only must this floor be easy to clean and have an anti-slip surface, it must also be able to withstand the lactic acids that are released during processing and the intense fluctuations in temperature that take place. At the Ruys Groep, we know how to deal with this aggressive organic compound on and thermal shocks to industrial floors, thus providing your dairy company with the right floor, in the right place!

The dairy industry: a moist working environment

  • In the production of milk products, various liquids can be released. These include fats, cream, lactic acids, sugars, fruit juices, proteins, carbohydrates, colorants and other additives. Also, of course, the floor must be cleaned regularly to meet strict hygiene requirements. As a result, the floor can become slippery. To combat this risk, the Ruys Groep can apply an anti-slip floor finish to achieve a safe floor surface. An additional advantage is that this layer does not wear off due to chemical or mechanical stress factors and is easy to clean.

The acidic substances in the dairy industry

The floor in the dairy industry can be exposed for long periods of time to the corrosive substances  mentioned above. Thus, the industrial floor must be able to withstand these acidic substances. Furthermore, the floor is cleaned daily with cleaning chemicals and high-pressure sprays. The Ruys Groep floors are resistant to these caustic substances, hot water and steam cleaning.

Resistant to thermal and mechanical influences

In the dairy industry, work is carried out under extreme temperature variations. In the preparation, freezing and packaging of milk products, temperatures can fluctuate between -40 and 130 degrees Celsius, and high temperatures are involved in the cleaning the floors. The use of heavy objects and machines is also common in the dairy industry. The floors must therefore be able to withstand these extreme temperature fluctuations, heavy objects falling on the floor and any sparks released from machinery. In order to counteract the latter risk of explosions, we can lay antistatic floors. These antistatic industrial floors ensure that no sparks are transferred to people or equipment, guaranteeing a safe working environment.
